The events of the past year have taught us that any progress on racial justice requires an ongoing commitmentnot only to addressing the issues, but to understanding multiple perspectives. Nondiscrimination is a core principle of human rights and a commitment to racial justice underpins all our programming at The Advocates for Human Rights. This year, our Human Rights Book Club will focus on racial justice in the United States. We have selected four important books for the series and look forward to thought- provoking discussions and new ideas for advocacy. Please join us for one or two meetings, or the full series, to take part in the discussion.

Caste by Isabel Wilkerson
Isabel Wilkerson explores how America has been shaped by a hidden caste system to create a societal hierarchy. Wilkerson relates caste systems across countries and history to outline eight pillars of caste systems including bloodline, stigma, and more. Through her analysis, she details the consequences of caste systems on culture, politics, and the individuals within them, before pointing to ways America can move past its own caste system to bridge artificial human divisions.
