Mid Minnesota Legal Aid Citizenship Workshop

Topics:
  • Citizenship

Have you ever wanted to work with immigrants? Wondering how the citizenship process works, and how you could help eligible clients apply to become new citizens of the United States? Then this opportunity is for you.

Every month, MMLA staff and attorneys work with eligible, pre-screened clients who are ready to file for US Citizenship. Clients, MMLA attorneys, and volunteer attorneys and paralegals gather at the Minneapolis Adult Basic Education building to prepare and review immigration cases.

After the four hour workshop, completed applications are filed and clients are provided with study materials for their upcoming immigration hearings. Volunteer attorneys prepare the materials and then plan to represent the clients at their upcoming hearings before the immigration service.

Workshops are held every month. Attending a volunteer education session is required for anyone interested in participating in the project. (Trainings will be held March 7, April 6)
