Housing Eviction Expungement: How to Prepare and Successfully Defend Your Clients in Hennepin County as a Volunteer Attorney

Topics:
  • Expungements

In honor of National Pro Bono Week, join us for a training session presented by Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid. MMLA's housing unit supervisor, Luke Grundman and staff attorney, Joanna Dobson will introduce you to the exciting world of landlord-tenant law. You will be educated on both the substantive and procedural aspects of housing eviction expungements - while also receiving all the tools you need to prepare an Expungement Motion and defend your client before Hennepin County's Housing Court.

Following the training, you'll have the opportunity to volunteer to represent one of MMLA's pre-screened expungement-eligible clients. You can either represent a client on your own or through one of the MMLA workshops, where MMLA staff supervise new pro bono attorneys and paralegal volunteers in the drafting and filing of expungement motions and other court forms.

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. CDT

Training: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CDT

Parking will be validated at the Marquette/IDS ramp.

Please RSVP to Sara.Bagwell@gpmlaw.com by Thursday, October 19.
