MMLA Citizenship Law Training

Topics:
  • Citizenship

Join MMLA staff attorneys as they provide an overview of US Naturalization law. This training will look at the immigration systems, basic immigration terminology, and the pathways people take to become permanent residents and citizens of the United States. The training is open to all, but is specifically developed to prepare pro bono attorneys and paralegals interested in volunteering at the monthly MMLA Citizenship workshops.

Trainers will provide an overview before moving into an attendee directed discussion of who can apply for citizenship, the process of applying for citizenship, and the "red flags" or problems that diligent attorneys must identify before assisting a client through this process. The training is excellent for the beginner or for the attorney who has worked with immigrants in other types of immigration proceedings.
