Children's Law Center of Minnesota Seeks Volunteer Attorneys to Meet Demand Created by Reforms to Minnesota Child Protection System

In the wake of last year’s Star Tribune report about 4 year old Eric Dean who was killed by his stepmother despite repeated warnings to child protection, Governor Dayton assembled a task force on protection of children to conduct a comprehensive review of how decisions are made to ensure child safety, and recommend specific ways to improve Minnesota’s child protection system.  The task force concluded its work last month with 93 recommendations that will substantially change the Minnesota child protection system.  As a result, more children are coming into the system, which means more investigation, more petitions, more litigation, more foster home placements. Children’s Law Center of Minnesota (“CLC”) has seen a significant increase in cases in the last year and needs more volunteer attorneys to help meet this demand to provide foster children with legal representation and advocacy.  Currently, CLC has 60 unassigned cases! Click here to register for an upcoming training, or call CLC at 651-644-4438 to see how you can help.
