2014 Kutak-Dodds Prize Nominations Now Open
 
Nominations are now open for the 2014 Kutak-Dodds Prizes. The National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA) presents the prestigious award annually at its Exemplar Award Dinner to honor the accomplishments of civil legal aid attorneys, public defenders, assigned counsel or public interest lawyers who, through the practice of law, are significantly contributing to the enhancement of human dignity and quality of life of those individuals who are unable to afford legal representation. The Prizes are intended to showcase the work of attorneys who are engaged for most, if not all, of their practice to reinforcing the principle and reality of justice for all under the law.
 
The 2014 Kutak-Dodds Prizes will honor two attorneys, one from the civil legal aid community and another from the public defense community. Each Prize carries a cash award of $10,000.

Vets StandDown event coming April 23 to Fergus Falls Armory
 
The Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) is hosting a Vets StandDown on April 23 in Fergus Falls to aid homeless and at-risk veterans. The event brings in service providers and resources to help provide homeless veterans with basic necessities and connect them with needed services. Attendees are able to secure clothes, sleeping bags, hygiene supplies, bags and other gear. Homeless vets receive help with medical, education, housing, legal and mental health issues. 
 
Anyone interested in volunteering at the event can contact the Otter Tail County Veterans' Office at (218) 998-8605.
