VETLAW/Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans

Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with this mission: "To provide assistance throughout Minnesota to positively motivated veterans and their families who are homeless or experiencing other life crisis. Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans accomplishes its mission by providing services directly or in collaboration with other service agencies" MACV clients include veterans that are experiencing issues with chemical dependency, work hardening, transitional housing and attaining new job skills. Many of these veterans have unresolved legal issues that affect their ability to succeed long term with stable employment and housing. We help veterans find resources to address civil legal issues that affect obtaining/maintaining housing and employment. Many of the veterans need child support modifications, federal and state taxes filed for prior years, student loan forbearances or deferrals, and debtor/creditor problems including inaccurate credit reports. We also see veterans who could benefit from criminal expungements. MACV serves veterans throughout the entire state and in 2007 provided services to veterans from 51 counties.
